Schools and educational facilities within the founding competences of the BSK

The Bratislava Self-Governing Region, in accordance with Act No. 245/2008 Coll. on Upbringing and Education (Schools Act) and on amendments to certain laws, among others:

• establishes and dissolves schools and educational facilities (secondary schools, centres of professional practice, language schools, leisure centres, school boarding houses, school catering facilities, school children’s clubs)
• manages schools and educational facilities within its founding competences and ensures the conditions for implementation of the educational process
• provides financial contributions to private primary art schools, church primary art schools, private language schools, church language schools, private educational facilities and church school facilities and exercises control over the management of these funds
• provides boarding facilities for pupils and students in schools and educational facilities

School dormitories and accommodation

Regional school students have more than 3,600 beds at secondary school dormitories available throughout the region. Every student admitted to the regional school has a guaranteed place in a boarding house, if the family situation requires it, a parent / a student can request a waiver of the accommodation and board fee.
